Studio tour

The Studio is where you add captions, CTAs and forms, adjust playback, and get a video ready to publish.

Open the Studio

Click a video in the Library. It opens at its own Studio page. The video shows in the middle, the tool dock and buttons are in the top bar, and the timeline runs along the bottom.

The top bar

From left to right:

  • Library and the video name. Click the name to rename the video (up to 120 characters). This is also the title your viewers see on the watch page.
  • The tool dock, described below.
  • A progress chip while the video is uploading or encoding.
  • The save state: Saving draft, Draft saved, Live (nothing unpublished) or Couldn’t save · Retry.
  • More actions (the three-dot menu).
  • Share and Publish.

Marker 1 is Replace video, marker 2 is Version history, marker 3 is Analytics, marker 4 is Share and marker 5 is Publish.

More actions holds three items: Replace video, Version history and Analytics.

Share opens the link and embed code. Publish puts your changes live. See Publish and share.

The canvas

The canvas shows your video with everything you have turned on drawn over it. If you use a CTA, drag its button on the canvas to move it.

To swap the video file, drop a new file onto the canvas. See Replace a video.

The timeline

The timeline shows when things happen. It has one lane for the video, plus a lane for each tool that is on, such as captions, cta, playgate, cards, zoom and reveal.

  • Back to start jumps to 0:00.
  • The − and + buttons zoom the timeline. The percentage between them shows the zoom.
  • The scissors button starts trim mode.

Trim the video

Trim cuts the start and end of your video.

  1. Click the scissors button (Trim on timeline) or press T.
  2. Drag the In and Out handles on the video lane. You can also move the playhead and press I for In or O for Out.
  3. Click Apply cut. Reset puts the handles back to the full length.

Apply cut is available once you have changed at least one end. It starts a new encode, and the result is saved as a version in History.

Save, undo and publish

The Studio saves as you work. Player settings, captions and the thumbnail are saved as a draft. Viewers do not see them until you click Publish.

The Publish button is active only when you have unpublished changes. If you hover it while it is off, it says "No unpublished changes. The live embed already matches."

Cmd+Z (Mac) or Ctrl+Z (Windows) undoes your last change to settings, captions and trim, up to 40 steps. Add Shift to redo.

See all keys in Keyboard shortcuts.
